Duane Johnson Signs First Pro Contract to play in Australia

duane johnsonDuane Johnson (6-7 F, East Landsdown, PA) signed a professional basketball contract to play for the Corio Bay Stingrays in Australia’s State League.

Johnson will join the team on Feb. 1 to prepare for the season, which begins in March.

While at East Stroudsburg University, Johnson was a three-time All-PSAC East selection and finished seventh in school history with 1,347 career points.

Johnson was the #2 overall athlete at the 2013 iBall Pro Combine according to statistics by Maxout.  He also placed second across the board in vertical jump (35.5″), lateral shuttle (3.3 seconds), and multidirectional movement (6.3 seconds) easily earning his spot on the 2013 iBall Combine All-Athletic team .

During game action, Johnson averaged only 2 points but shot 66% from the field. He also grabbed 4 rebounds per game and showed a value of 6 points per game.

Noteworthy: 4 of 5 players named to the 2013 iBall Pro Combine All Athletic Team have signed contracts with professional teams.  Joining Johnson are Russell Johnson (LEB Gold, Spain), Omari Howard (Bezirksliga, Germany), and Kelsey Williams (LEB Plata, Spain).
